Dr. Pinar Karpuz-Pickell, Ph.D. is an engineering professional with more than fifteen years of experience in materials science, metallurgy, manufacturing, and artificial lift technologies, including over a decade dedicated to the oil and gas industry. Her career has focused extensively on sucker rod pumping systems and associated artificial lift equipment, encompassing product design, materials selection, manufacturing processes, performance optimization, failure analysis, and industry standards development. Throughout her oilfield career, Pinar has held technical and leadership roles including Design Engineer, Metallurgical Engineer, Materials Engineer, Quality Systems Manager, and Quality Manager. Her leadership integrates technical rigor, risk-based thinking, and customer-focused quality strategies to support reliable product performance and long-term value creation for oil and gas operators.
Pinar has been a Program Committee Member for the Southwest Petroleum Short Course (SWPSC) for 5 years, where she also has authored and presented technical papers and presentations focused on sucker rod pumping systems, materials engineering, equipment reliability, manufacturing processes, and failure analysis. She also serves as a member of API SC11 Sub-Committee and API 11AR/AX Task Groups.
